Priti Patel, The UK Home Secretary spoke in Parliament a few days ago and talked about Hong Kong issues. She emphasized that Hong Kong’s success was based on its freedom and high degree of autonomy. Beijing’s decision to pursue the National Security Law in Hong Kong clearly violated international obligations and affected the freedom of Hong Kong people.

She said that if China insists on acting alone, Britain will act without hesitation, extending the duration of stay for BN(O) passports holders in Britain up to 12 months, leading the pathway for them to obtain British citizenship. Priti Patel emphasized that Britain will not abandon its commitment to the freedom of Hong Kong and its people.
